Protect your online presence with this free VPN

Planet VPN is a free security and privacy mobile app that enables you to easily hide your IP address and unlock geo-restricted content online. Developed by Free VPN Planet, this VPN app offers a variety of security features such as solid encryption, fast connection speeds, no tracking, and lots of VPN server locations.

Similar to other VPN apps, Planet VPN is pretty easy to use as it only has the main menu and a settings page. It doesn’t require any account or registration to be used, and there’s no usage time limit or bandwidth. This app has three premium subscription plans.

Is Planet VPN good?

Using Planet VPN is simple and straightforward. Available on PC, mobile, and even browsers, this security app just needs you to download, install, and launch it. It will automatically read your IP address and display your current region on the main menu, saying that your connection is unprotected. There’s a button on the screen for connecting to whatever other country you chose to be your proxy location.

In the server list, the interface will clearly display which ones are free to use while the others are locked behind the premium version. Take note that there are only 5 free locations: France, Germany, the Netherlands, the USA, and the UK. Nevertheless, just choose from them and you can quickly connect to hide your online activities. The premium version even supports up to 10 devices simultaneously per account.

This app is safe to use as it implements a strict no-logs policy and has strong hard drive encryption. It even has a kill switch function that auto-blocks your traffic in case your VPN connection dies—although you have to manually enable this in the settings. Compared to its rivals, though, it doesn’t have a lot of advanced features and security options like firewall add-ons and an ad blocker.

Keep it simple

All in all, Planet VPN is great for users who are looking for a VPN that’s beginner-friendly. While it only has the most basic of functions, it does provide a free VPN service without requiring a user account. It also doesn’t limit your bandwidth and usage limit, so you can keep using it even without availing of the subscription plan.

Softonic

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
